Queen of HeartsBuilt in 1887, the 2000 ASID Showcase Home continues to reign as one of the oldest and most stately homes on Lake of the Isles. While many homeowners who embark on the journey of home restoration compile enough wisdom and stories for a novel, or at least a good how-to book, few actually put pen to paper. Fortunately, Katherine Chrisman did. Her book, entitled Dreaming in the Dust and published in 1987 just months before her death from breast cancer, chronicles two years of her family's challenging and ongoing restoration of the more than 100-year-old Victorian charmer on East Lake of the Isles Boulevard. The house, which looks like a wedding cake from that era, seems to be waiting for a new couple to come along with a fresh coat of frosting. |
